Once I have my home treated for termites, am I guaranteed they will not come back?

No. Many factors can impact the duration of your termite treatment. Excessive moisture, poor drainage and disturbance of the soil around your house can contribute to a breakdown in the termite barrier. That is why it is important to have a continual termite contract.

 

I already have pest control service on my house. Won't that take care of termites?

No. While a good pest control service will keep your home bug free, it will not prevent termites from attacking the structure.

 

Once my home is under a termite protection plan, are you going to treat it with chemicals every year?

The EPA prohibits applying termiticide indiscriminately. While under contract with Terminix, your home will be inspected for termites. If termites are detected in your home, it will be treated at that time.

 

 

My neighbor just discovered termites in his home. Does this mean I have them too?

While finding termites in a neighboring structure does not guarantee you will have them as well, the chance that you may does increase. A termite colony can infect an area up to a quarter of a mile, so the termite colony that is attacking your neighbor’s house could be attacking your home as well. I have a well located in my crawl space. Can my home be treated for termites?

While it may not be a good idea to treat your home with conventional termite liquids for fear of contaminating your well, we can treat your home with the Terminix Termite Baiting Program, which contains an insect growth regulator, and eliminate the entire termite colony without the risk of well contamination.

 

My home is on a concrete slab and the heating ducts are in the concrete. Can it be treated for termites?

Is it Okay to stack firewood next to the foundation of my home?

Since firewood often can contain termites, it is not a good idea to stack it too close to your home.

 

There are little round holes in the joists and floorboards in my crawl space. What is causing them?

These tiny holes are more than likely exit holes made by powder post beetles. Powder post beetles lay their eggs inside the wood, and the holes you see are made when the hatched beetle exits. If left untreated they can cause structural damage to your house.

 

There is a powdery mold like substance growing on the joists in my crawl space. Can this damage my wood?

There are large black bees boring holes into my deck and the eaves of my house. Can I keep them from coming back?

Painting bare wood that is being attacked by carpenter bees can deter some bees; however, it does not offer the best solution.

• If the wood targeted by bees is treated with a residual pest control product, carpenter bees may be repelled or killed by the treatment.
• Once holds have been started, the nest galleries may be treated.
• The holds can be plugged several weeks later while it is possible that the bees have been killed.
